Backing-Up your registry for safe Computing

Introduction

Registry is the brain of an Operating System, which consists of all links, allows efficient and logical processing. Registry is database where every element exhibiting in an Operating System has a referral link to it. Registry provides runtime information to an application or process, like Hardware Status etc…

Often registry for an Operating System gets corrupted with power failures or virus vulnerabilities. If a registry gets corrupted to such a extent which can’t repaired, leeds to Reinstallation of Operating System, ie. Data Loss.

Below is a simple procedure to backup your Windows Registry, specially for registry Tweaks & Tricks.

Procedure

  • Click Start menu and type “regedit”, in Run Command Box.

  • Now, in registry editor windows Select File Menu and click on Export.

  • Choose a location in order to save the backup file, and rename it accordingly for your future reference.

  • Hit the Save Button in order to create backup.
  • You are done, verify once by exploring to the location, and check for .reg file extension.
