Ganesh Chaturthi – The Ganpati Utsav festival is in full swing of preparations, all over the India and World. The Ganesha Chaturthi festival is on Sunday, 23rd August, and beautiful Murtis and Sculptures of Ganesha are ready for the Ganesha Visarjan.
Ganesh, the son of Shiva, is worshiped around the world, as He is also known as ‘VighnaHartaa’ which means the remover of obstacles. According to the myths, Ganesha is the Honest, Loyal and Good Child of Lord Shiva and Lord Parvati.

The story behind worshiping Ganesha, actually highlights the importance of values, morals and ethics.
It is believed that, once Ganesh and his brother Kartikeya were asked to roam around the world by their parents, Lord Shiva and Lord Parvati, and the one who finish the tour will win. Kartikeya started off for the world tour, while Ganesha encircled his parents, which devoteingly mean world to him. So, in this was Ganesha won the Race from his brother Kartikeya.

Since then, Ganesh has to be worshipped initially before beginning a Pooja or any other ritual or ceremony. Ganesha also symbolizes “budhi” that is thinking power. Below are some beautiful pictures of the Lord Ganesha.
