Ugadi is marked as the first day of the year and it is celebrate with great joy.
There is an interesting story about Telugu new year : Ugadi. Local celebrate the day because Lord Brahma , Creator of the world created the world on Chaitra Shuddha Prathipade and thus day celebrate new year on the first day of Lunar calendar.
How people celebrate Ugadi ?
People from southern part of India, mostly people from Andhra pradesh and Karnataka start preparing for telugu new year from a week ahead.
People buy new cloths, clean their houses and and exchange lots of gifts.
On the day of Ugadi, people get up early in the morning. After shower they visit temple to offer prayer to god and say thanks to God.
Ugadi is one of the big festival for telugu people.
