Did you accidently deleted your “Show Desktop” file from the quick launch toolbar ? No, need to worry, the file can be created easily, and recovered. The Show Desktop file is a Shell Explorer File which needs with a five line code, edited on a Notepad.
Below is the procedure to create desktop.scf file.
- Right Click on Desktop and select New, then choose Text Document.
- Double click on the newly created text document. When Notepad window opens, Type down the code, below in italics, in the NotePad very precisely.

Command=ToggleDesktop
- Next, click on File menu and hit Save As…
- Save the file as “Desktop.scf” to any location on your hard drive. Click Save button to create the Show Desktop File.
- So, here we have, and recovered our Show Desktop File back. Now drag the desktop file, from the location you saved, to the Quick Launch Toolbar.
