Three best ways to hide your files and folder in windows

Some instances happen in life, when we really are in need to hide our private photos, documents, etc. from our friends, relates and other strangers. Using, third party software, usually costs $30-40 may be costlier. Using pirated software, is just not reliable for our confidential stuff. Winrar is a nice archiving software which also provides password protection feature in it.

Again, Winrar can’t hide your stuff, it can only be encrypted with a password. In order to hide you files and folder, below are three possible ways feasible in Windows.

• By using a simple Hidden Attribute

This is a the most basic tip for hiding a file or a folder. Procedure is given below:

# Right click, on the file/folder to hide, select properties.

# Now, check the Hidden check box field.

File can be viewed/accessed, by enabling Hidden Files & Folder under Folder Options in Control Panel.

• By using Super Hidden Attribute

Hiding a file with Supper Hidden Attributes, is an advance tweak to hide the files. Usually, system and protected operating system files have such attributes. Procedure to hide file/folder by this method is as under.

# Start > Run, type “cmd”.

# On the Command Prompt Window, type the following

To hide

attrib +h +s <path-of-file-folder>

eg. attrib +h +s c:UsersAkyabc.txt

To Unhide

attrib –h -s <path-of-file-folder>

eg. attrib –h -s c:UsersAkyabc.txt

• By Changing Visual Properties of a Folder

This is the tweak to disabling a stranger to view a folder. Below is handful procedure to customize the properties of a folder accordingly.

# Right click on the folder and open the properties.

# Open the customize tab and click Change Icon button.

# Locate and select the blank icon images. Hit Ok button to save.

# Next, we are half-way done, now right click again on the folder and select Rename. Now make a keystroke combination of Alt + 0160. This is a blank character, which will make the folder go invisible, with a blank name and blank icon image.
