Use Filters in Gmail to sort out Incoming Emails

Introduction

Google products and services always take us by surprise, when we start exploring them for capabilities. Gmail is one of the product, which eases its user with so many tools and settings. With my earlier post on the Optimization of the Gmail Inbox with Archive Button, here is an another Tip to Optimization via Filters in Gmail.

Filters works on a macro programming methodology, which easily sorts the incoming Email to its desired Label Archive or Forwarding it to some different Email Address.

Assigning Filters to the Gmail, can be done by following the procedure mentioned below.

Procedure

  • Click on the Settings Link in Gmail Home Page.

  • Next, Click on the Filter Tab.

  • Create a new filter, by clicking on the “Create a new filter” link.

  • On the criteria screen, fill out the fields with valid criteria. For instance, I want to sort my incoming email To akyjoe@gmail.com from Facebook.

  • Next Step is the Action Type for the criteria we provided in our last step. For instance, I wanted it to be archived and a facebook label to be assigned as well.

  • Next click Create Filter Button to save all changes.
  • We are almost done with our procedure, on next instance for an incoming Email from Facebook will automatically be archived and a Facebook Label will be assigned to it.
